Mushroom Dance (3)
We begin our walk with a pair of red-belted conks.
Next up is one of my favorite fungi: the porcelain fungus.
The porcelain fungus grows both parasitically and saprotrophically on living and dead trunks, stumps and branches of deciduous trees, almost always beech.
This moderately large wood fungus usually grows in small bundles and is easily recognized by its slimy, translucent cap and ringed stalk.
From the porcelain fungus the antifungal agent oudemansine A is extracted. This substance can be used in skin diseases.
