Iceland is also called the land of fire and ice. It makes sense, because Iceland is a volcanic island, and you'll find plenty of ice, summer and winter. Iceland is largely made up of glaciers.
As a child, I was fascinated by volcanoes. I was allowed, and still enjoy watching documentaries about volcanoes, especially the eruptions, and the images of flowing lava, which have something hypnotic for me. For a long time I thought that lava was always red in color, and that it was always light in weight. Not so...
And so I went to Iceland to hunt for various colors of lava. And I found it. And I also found out that lava isn't always lightweight at all.

Wat interessant! En mooi natuurlijk. Zou zoiets geschikt zijn voor in een kachel om warmte vast te houden? Je ziet wel eens dat er in verschillende haarden ook gesteente ligt.
@The Original Enrique de lava die ik meebracht is daarvoor denk ik te bros, dat beschadigd heel snel. Maar ik heb ook een brokje uit Kenia, dat is heel zwaar en stevig. Ik weet welke stenen je bedoelt, maar geen idee welke soort dat is. Misschien weet @Naturefreak dat?
Interessant! Die steentjes van het strand bij Vik heb ik uiteraard ook meegenomen. (hoeveel mensen zullen die steentjes hebben?) Ik wist dus niet dat het eigenlijk lava is! Er zijn ronde zwarte steentjes en de platte zijn iets grijzer volgens mij.
@Marjolein ik heb een potje vol, en het lijkt gezichtsbedrog. Volgens mij hebben ze dezelfde kleur. Ik vind ze zó gaaf, ik wil nog kijken of ik er een tot hanger kan laten maken.
