Kinni and Ka (10)
Ka follows Kinni closely, but suddenly she stands still.
“What... “begins Ka, but Kinni holds her hand in front of his mouth.
“Quiet, “she whispers.
Ka knows by her serious gaze that she's serious. He holds his breath and listens carefully to all the sounds around him. He hears the wind in the leaves and the birds in the trees. In the distance, the roar of beard monkeys sounds. And somewhere in between, there's something else. A presence that's not supposed to be there. All his senses are on sharp edge.
“Blow down!” sounds Kinni's voice.
Ka instantly drops to the ground. Right over his head, a dart shave through the air.
He gets up soon and runs with Kinni back to the village where they are safe. The enemy follows them closely.
