Did you ever get or write a love note when you were in elementary school? Usually there was a heart on it with an arrow and the names written with it. If you weren't sure if someone wanted to go out with you, instead of the name, put a question mark by the arrow. Through these kinds of notes you asked if someone wanted to go out with you, because asking someone directly was way too exciting. You didn't give the note yourself to the boy or the girl either. You usually left that to a boyfriend or girlfriend. Letters were also passed on to each other during the lesson, as shown here in the picture.
