Old bread is still thrown away too often I hear around me. Or it's given to the ducks. And they do not benefit at all. Stronger - it's unhealthy for them.
Personally, I never have any stale bread left. I take six slices of bread every day from the freezer. Three for the gentleman and three for me. Exactly enough. At my baker I let the bread cut thin. That can be right there. They have two cutting machines. Maybe that's what your baker can do, too. You take advantage of it. Because you have two extra slices. That may not seem much. But in the long run, you saved a whole loaf of bread. And you're getting less bread.
