'Chautara' refers to a stone structure around a big tree, made as a place to relax.

Chautara means rest place in Nepal. These types of chautara are common in Nepal and it used to be a centre of everything in the past. You walk for hours and rest in the Chautara to continue further down your path. Although chautaras are no more used as prior,it still holds a significant value at our culture. Assembly of the villagers for any works used to be done at Chautara.

The tree at middle of the structure isspecies of Sacred Fig native to our continent. Scientifically,these trees are very rich in oxygen which makes them a ideal tree for a rest place and restore back the replenished energy.

Moreover spiritually, Chautara are sacred as they house Sacred fig and they are worshipped as god in our religion. You wrap holy threads around the stem of tree while worshipping.

Maybe we all need a Chautara now in our life. A place and time to rest and gather back all the energy to move forward in this world.
