Buñol
Tom,Martin? Piet,Cindy? : Present
We are all there. Even Piet's sister Ans has not been able to resist temptation. But,she will regret that. Several participants of this celebration will love to put her on a heel. All right, the party can start, the garlands hang, and the drink is on the table.
We will really need that in order to dare to face it later. That running and completely subjecting each other to bullets with tomatoes, you should not think about it too lightly.
We are just outside Buñol,a small town in Spain, soon a huge party will break loose here.
The lady or gentleman who has her bedspread hanging outside the clothesline will either need a new colour in the house,or she has just made the biggest mistake in months.
We gather in the centre and then large carts with heavy tomatoes are driven in.
When the signal is given,I dig with my fingers between the bars and know how to pull out a large red mass.
What a party. The roof is going off.
I look around and see Ans trying to run away after a well-aimed throw. Lovely, she has kept her shoes in heels and gets stuck between the pavers. I'm gonna take my chance. I empty my one hand in a well-aimed throw right on her back.
Just as she turns around to see where that came from,my other hand, now filled with pulp full in her face.
That same face is now turning red,for me a bit difficult to recognize the exact cause. Then a full grin appears between the fleshy seeds that drip down her cheeks.
She grabs me,crush between us one or two well-aimed tomatoes and then puts a huge kiss on my mouth. “That's right,” she says while her hands are looking for new ammunition again.
“Just wait”,I call the disappearing Ans,next year Pamplona.
Still nice, every year a different festival with our group of friends.
