Black in the spell in the public library
“Yes, Dana, it's true. Books in which black Piet is found are taken from the collection. '
“But, we can't do that, can we? It's not up to us to...”
“Ho, no, not to us, but to the libraries.”
It turned before my eyes. I thought of all the very nice books that we would remember the children (and adults). All so warm stories where Zwarte Piet was not painted black; if it could be related to the black fellow man, that would be more a compliment to them than a discriminatory statement. I was thinking about the mystical, mysterious thing about you not knowing who's behind the black face with dark curls, radiant stiffed mouth, thought of the cheerfulness, the many songs, everything around it.
Straks is De Sint helemaal verdwenen en vieren we alleen nog kerst. Wat heel groots gevierd wordt in Amerika, zoals Halloween, hier ook steeds meer voet aan de grond vind.
