Managing the passport in Venezuela, which is valid for 5 years, has a cost of 198 million 394,418.64 bolivars, while to carry out the procedures for the extension it is necessary to have 99 million 197,209.32 bolivars. In dollars, the cost of issuing the document is 200 and the cost of extension abroad 100, making Venezuela one of the countries with the highest costs for managing the document. The country ranks fifth behind Lebanon, where to manage a passport, which is valid for 10 years, costs $330; Syria, for 2 years, $325; Congo, 5 years, $250; and Australia, valid for 10 years, $205.
Then it is ironic and almost impossible to process this document when the average citizen's salary is $1.20 currently one of the lowest in the world. Moreover, the waiting time for the delivery of the passport in case it could be paid is up to two years.
That is why while many people say “I'm going" we are still sown here in Venezuela.
