I again love things with character, I will buy the carrot that is a little bent.

@Mónica Yes, a lot is thrown away and that is a real shame .. It is the right attitude not to go for standard sizes of eg fruit. I also find them funny when they deviate!

@Naturefreak Ja dat kan ook zo zijn.. meestal worden bepaalde fruitsoorten sneller rijp als er bv. bananen bij liggen. Dat schijnt een stof te geven die rijping van ander fruit kan bevorderen..

Hier blijft fruit niet liggen tot het slecht kan worden. En fruit uit eigen tuin heeft deukjes, gleufjes en plekjes. Maar geen oogjes. 😁

Some years ago, I volunteered at a non-profit here in Portugal called "Fruita Feia" (Ugly Fruit). They bought fruit and vegetables directly from farmers, you know, the ones the farmers couldn't sell to supermarkets because they didn't mean the size-shape-look criteria. Volunteers helped carry the boxes out of trucks and make baskets with a variety of fruits and veggies. Subscribers of these baskets could then receive delicious and fresh fruit and veggies once a week and help prevent food waste (and the volunteers got a basket too! 😁)

And that while in this time we have a lot more mouths to feed ... so unthinkably throw it away!❤️
